Tottenham Hotspur Women look to move into the UEFA Women’s Champions League spots with a win over newly promoted independent club, London City Lionesses.

Goalkeeper coach, Chris Williams addressed the media ahead of the first fixture between the two sides which will determine whether Spurs can continue their positive start under head coach, Martin Ho.

During the October international break, several stars from Andrée Jegerletz’ Manchester City squad represented their nations on the big stage.

The charity aims to grant all children equal access to sport, with emphasis on the benefits of football both physically and mentally on young people.

Crystal Palace Women sailed into second place in Group D after a convincing win over Ipswich Town in the Subway Women’s League Cup.

A double by Emma Watson and Allyson Swaby ensured the Eagles were on top form to reach the last group stage game in style.

Palace, who were third from bottom in the group after a heavy defeat by London City Lionesses, started strongly but were evenly matched by Ipswich’s defence and attacking play.

Freya Godfrey made her move to the independent club, London City Lionesses permanent this summer.

The young Lioness progressed through the ranks of the Arsenal academy and signed her first professional contract in red, ahead of moving to a new part of London.

In their first ever season in the Barclays Women’s Super League, London City established a new era. Godfrey is instrumental in their plans going forward and ambitions of success. However, with such a talented squad, the youngster must graft hard on and off the pitch to secure vital minutes for the club.

Following the appointment of ex Manchester City manager, Gareth Taylor, Liverpool FC Women’s form seems to have taken an even harder hit.

Heading into the first international break of the season, the Reds have only scored two goals in the Barclays Women’s Super League in the opening five fixtures: they currently sit in eleventh place with zero points to their name.

Crystal Palace Women were held to a 1–1 draw with Sunderland Women at the VBS Community Stadium in the Barclays Women’s Super League 2.

Sunderland opened the scoring in the ninth minute when forward, Katy Watson’s effort took a heavy deflection and looped past Palace goalkeeper, Shae Yañez to give the visitors an early lead. 

However, Palace hit back just four minutes later, as Kirsty Howat latched onto a through ball from Scottish international, Emma Watson and calmly lifted her finish over the advancing keeper to make it 1–1.

Tottenham Hotspur Women cruised to a 1-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion Women at Brisbane Road in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

A superb strike from summer signing, Cathinka Tandberg in the 26th minute proved decisive, as she fired home from close range. The visitors pushed for an equaliser before half-time, but Brighton’s defence held firm.

Tottenham, who have now won four of their last five matches, continued their strong start to the season — a remarkable improvement after securing just five league wins in the entirety of last term.

Lynn Wilms is a twenty-five-year-old right centre-back for Aston Villa Women.

Wilms’ presence brings strength, intelligence and versatility to the Villains’ backline. She is comfortable on the ball and capable of playing both in central defence and as a right-sided fullback.

Having developed her game at FC Twente before shining with VFL Wolfsburg in Germany, Wilms is becoming a prominent choice for both club and country. Now continuing her journey with Aston Villa domestically, and the Netherlands internationally, she looks set to remain a key figure in the modern game, combining defensive solidity with attacking intent.

Ellie Brazil plays as a forward for Southampton FC Women. Having joined the Saints in the summer, she is an exciting prospect who is wonderful with the ball at her feet.

She has been capped for England throughout her youth (from under-15 to under-23 level), proving her to be a confident player.

Club-wise, she currently plays for Southampton in the Barclays WSL 2 (the second tier of women’s football in England). Her journey is certainly a testament to her hard work and determination beyond the pitch.
