London City Lionesses assert dominance over the Foxes in five star performance

London City Lionesses roared to an emphatic 5-1 win over Barclays Women's Super League strugglers Leicester City at the Copperjax Community Stadium.

London City, who were looking to improve on their current form after drawing against Chelsea and West Ham United, sealed the deal with two first-half goals from Lucia Corrales and Isobelle Goodwin after Shannon O’Brien gave the visitors an early lead, whilst Malou Marcetto and Grace Geyoro added to the hosts the advantage later on. 

It was soon game over for the Foxes as England international Freya Godfrey scored in style, finishing off a solid victory for the Lionesses.

The Foxes bolster squad depth with leadership and attacking prowess

Leicester City FC Women are currently in 9th place in the Barclays Women’s Super League table with only nine points on the table, as the second half of the 2025/26 season is underway.

With five new faces joining the Foxes already this January, it is clear the club are ambitious to invest in the women’s side and push up the table.

Already this season, there is evidence of a lack of squad depth, alongside gaps within passages of play along the flanks and something missing in the final third. However, these new signings could be the resolution to Rick Passmoor’s problems as head coach.

Leicester City Women hosted Manchester City Women at the King Power Stadium this weekend. The Blues aimed to remain at the top of the Barclays Women’s Super League table with a victory over the foxes.

Both sides looked to shape the trajectory of their campaigns heading into the final month of the year. Whilst the Foxes aimed to prove they can compete with the league's elite as they continue to build under their evolving system, Manchester City showed dominance to maintain their title-chasing momentum retain their place at the top of the league.  

This meeting promised intensity, quality and plenty on the line for both teams. But ultimately, City reminded why they have pushed six points clear in the WSL and are currently front runners in the race for silverware this season.

Chelsea top the WSL after narrow win against the Foxes at Kingsmeadow

Chelsea Women moved to the top of the Barclays Women’s Super League table after an early goal from Aggie Beever-Jones at Kingsmeadow.

Beever-Jones struck in the 7th minute, pouncing on a loose ball in the box and firing a right-footed effort high into the net. It was her seventh of the campaign, underlining her status as Chelsea’s most prolific forward this season. 

The Blues had lost just one of their previous forty-nine home league matches (forty-six wins, two draws) and extended their unbeaten WSL run to twenty-eight games, their last defeat coming against Liverpool in May 2024.
