Cathinka Tandberg: WSL Player Spotlight

Cathinka Tandberg is a twenty-one-year-old forward for Tottenham Hotspur Women. The Norwegian international signed for Spurs a few weeks ago.

Her introduction to the Barclays Women’s Super League got off to a flying start. A versatile attacking threat, she combines pace and direct running with a composed finishing touch. Marking her first WSL start with a goal against Everton, she has already shown why she is one to watch in Tottenham’s frontline.

Tandberg has represented Norway at youth level and is widely seen as a future senior international.

 A star in the making

Tandberg immediately marked her impact in Lilywhite with a world-class goal from outside the box. England robbed Ishikawa deep in Everton's half and a loose ball perfectly assisted the new signing’s shot. Spotting Brosnan off her line, she lifted a sublime first-time finish just inside the near post, doubling Tottenham’s advantage with a real stunner to become a dream start to her WSL career.

Her goal capped off a lively performance full of sharp movement and direct running, giving Spurs an added edge in attack.

On such a significant stage, delivering so decisively on her first full outing highlighted not only her ability, but also her potential to become a key figure in the WSL as Spurs navigate their 2025/26 campaign.

Her statistics also prove the promising impact she had on Martin Ho’s Spurs: Tandberg had two shots on target, with one finding the back of the net. She registered three touches inside Everton's penalty area, constantly threatening with her sharp movement. The Norwegian forward also completed six passes into the final third, underlining her link-up play. She contested five duels and won three, giving her a 60% success rate in one-on-one battles.

Spurs’ manager had nothing but praise for his summer signing. In a post-match interview, he assured:

But actually, instinctively she's very clever."

 Her debut season

Tandberg's next match is against Manchester City at home. Having marked her first start with a stunning goal against Everton, she has already shown she can make an instant impact.

The key now will be whether she can consistently translate her sharp movement and composed finishing into goals across the season. Watch how she combines with Tottenham’s other forwards: whether she continues to be trusted in advanced roles, and how she adapts when faced with stronger defensive units.

Her ability to adjust against tougher teams with tighter defensive set-ups will define just how big an influence she becomes in the WSL. Tandberg could be the component Spurs have been missing, pushing them to challenge for better a position in the league.
