Swedish winger Alice Bergström joins Liverpool
Liverpool FC Women confirm the signing of Swedish international, Alice Bergström. The winger joins from Swedish Champions, BK Häcken, as the first signing for the Reds this year.
Subject to international clearance and work permit, Bergström will join Liverpool right away, ready to help the team get back on track after a challenging start to the season. On the back of a Damallsvenskan title, she is ready to bring success to Merseyside.
In particular, Bergström captured Gareth Taylor’s attention with her versatility on the right-hand side, being able to operate as both an attacking forward and a defensive wing-back.
In her last season with Häcken, she contributed eight assists and netted three goals to secure the league title. Alongside this she featured regularly in the Europa League competition, with starts in both legs of the last sixteen round.
Speaking about her move to Liverpool, the Swedish winger is excited to make her debut in Red:
“I’m really excited, I’ve been waiting for a long time so it’s nice to be here. I’m really impressed by everything, the pitches are so nice here, and I think I’m going to be fine here.”
Regarding her playing style and versatility, she added that fans can expect to see fast-paced attacking performances:
“A lot of speed and power, I like to do one v ones and make a lot of crosses into the box… I’ve always played like a winger but this year I’ve played more like a full back so I can play both.”
Another factor that contributed to the move was former teammates and Swedish internationals, Beata Olsson and Cornelia Kapocs, who spoke highly of the club and their experiences so far.
On the international stage, Bergström received her first senior call-up to Sweden in the UEFA Women’s Nations League bronze medal match against France. Ahead of this, she played a consistent role in the Under-23s squad.
The Swedish winger will wear the number twenty-five shirt for the Reds, as she hopes to impact their success in the second half of the 2025/26 campaign.
