But her influence is recognised far beyond her statistical contributions.
Early career
In her youth, Primus played for Chelsea and impressed greatly to earn a debut in the topflight of English football.
She headed off to the states (California State University, Fullerton) in 2016. Scoring 25 times in 72 appearances and becoming the all-time programme assist leader, she gained vital experience whilst putting her name up in lights.
The United Kingdom came calling and Primus joined London City Lionesses in September 2020. She made an impressive 58 appearances for the club, scoring 15 times.
Representing her nation
After switching her allegiance to the Reggae Girlz (Jamaica) she took her place in their squad for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Primus featured four times and showcased her strength and determination, helping them reach the round of 16 for the first time, in only their second appearance at the tournament.
With the opportunity to play alongside some of the biggest names in women’s football, Khadija Bunny Shaw to give an example, Primus is learning from the best and adapting to the international set up with Jamaica.
Life on the south coast
Primus joined Southampton in 2023, playing 19 times in her first season (2023/24). She immediately demonstrated her goalscoring ability by netting on her debut against Reading.
She was loaned to Charlton for the 2024/25 campaign to gain further experience in the second tier of English football - Primus helped them to a third-place finish.
On her return to Southampton, she was appointed as club captain after signing a new contract. Primus saw this as a show of her commitment to the club:
“To be selected as captain is a huge honour, and a privilege to be able to lead the girls.”
Primus began this campaign (2025/26) superbly, scoring Saints’ opening goal of the season in their 4-0 win over Ipswich Town. In the Barclays WSL 2, Primus has played in 16 matches, securing three goals and two assists. Her contributions to the team effort not only stem from her attacking threat, but also her leadership and forward-thinking mentality.
Fans will be hoping she continues to shine in red and white to drive on Southampton’s promotion challenge.
